What Is Mont Blanc Quartzite?
Mont Blanc is a white-grey quartzite with long, mostly parallel veins in soft charcoal and silver. Like every true quartzite, it began as sandstone and was fused by heat and pressure into a dense metamorphic stone. It rates 7 on the Mohs scale and does not react to acids, so the lemon and lime that ruin marble bar tops leave Mont Blanc untouched.
Its look is calm and architectural. Where Taj Mahal is warm and flowing, Mont Blanc is cool and linear. That makes it a natural pick for contemporary kitchens, condo renovations and commercial bars. Blocks are large and supply is steady, which keeps the price below Taj Mahal and makes long runs from one bundle realistic.
Types of Mont Blanc Work We Fabricate
Mont Blanc Kitchen Countertops
Perimeter counters with eased or mitred edges. Because the veins run in one direction, we plan every piece so the lines continue around corners instead of meeting at odd angles.
Mont Blanc Bar Tops
Restaurant and home bars from 8 to 18 feet. We mitre the ends on our Flow Mach 500 waterjet so the bar looks like a solid block, and we support long overhangs with steel flat bar. Bars are templated and installed after hours when needed.
Mont Blanc Islands
Islands up to about 10 feet can usually come from a single jumbo slab. Linear veins look best running along the long axis, which we confirm with you on the slab.
Honed and Polished Finishes
Polished Mont Blanc looks bright and crisp. Honed softens the contrast and hides fingerprints. Leathered is possible but less common on Mont Blanc because the grain is fine.
How Much Does Mont Blanc Quartzite Cost in Toronto?

| Mont Blanc Project | Typical Size | Installed Price (CAD) | Lead Time |

| Restaurant bar top (12-18 ft) | 30-45 sqft | $15,000-$32,000 | 3-4 weeks |
Bar tops cost more than their square footage suggests because of mitred ends, steel supports, after-hours labour and commercial compliance paperwork. See our commercial quartzite countertops page for the full commercial table.
Things that move a Mont Blanc price:
- Bundle matching. Long runs and multi-unit jobs need full bundles.
- Edges. Eased is included. Mitred bar edges add waterjet time.
- Seams. Linear veins need careful seam placement, which can use more stone.
- Access. Condo elevators and restaurant back doors affect piece size.

Why Mont Blanc Works So Well in Restaurants
Bars take a beating: citrus wedges, spilled cocktails, hot plates and constant wiping. Marble etches by the end of the first week. Quartz can scorch under a hot cast iron skillet. Mont Blanc handles all of it, and its straight veins disguise seams on long runs.
Last fall we did an 18-ft Mont Blanc bar top for Giuliana Trattoria on College Street. We templated after closing, cut the mitred ends on the waterjet and installed in a six-hour overnight window. The restaurant group has since put us on their list for two Danforth openings. Nine times out of ten, a cracked bar top comes down to poor support, so we always spec steel under the overhang.
Caring for Mont Blanc
Daily: warm water, a pH-neutral cleaner and a microfibre cloth. Weekly in a bar: a quick wipe with a stone-safe degreaser. Every 18 months at home or 12 months in a busy bar: reseal with an impregnating sealer. Our quartzite sealing visits take about two hours and can be booked before opening.
