Custom & Commercial | 22 Years of Quartzite Fabrication Experience

Custom Quartzite Countertops in Toronto, ON | Bookmatched, Curved, Mitred & Oversized Pieces

Quartzite Countertops Toronto handles custom quartzite countertops across homes, condos and commercial builds in Toronto and the GTA, for the one-off pieces most fabricators turn down. Every custom top is natural metamorphic sandstone at 7 Mohs, acid-resistant and dense enough to hold a crisp curve or a deep mitred apron. We cut radius work and bookmatched features on our Flow Mach 500 waterjet, run straight work on our Park Industries CNC and hunt the right slabs at Stone Tile, Ciot and Marsala, drawing on 22 years of odd shapes and tight tolerances.

Custom quartzite runs $100-$220/sqft installed. Taj Mahal, Cristallo, Mont Blanc, Sea Pearl and Super White are in stock. Every install carries WSIB coverage, $5M CGL, NSI compliance and a written 2-year warranty across Toronto, Mississauga, Vaughan, Markham and the rest of the GTA.

One-Off Quartzite Pieces, Cut on the Waterjet

This page is for the jobs that are not standard kitchens. A breakfast bar that curves around a column. An island with a 6-inch mitred apron. A one-piece dining table. A bookmatched fireplace wall. These are the pieces where a lot of fabricators say no, or say yes and then cut them freehand with a grinder.

Every custom piece we make is natural quartzite, a metamorphic sandstone around 7 Mohs and acid-resistant. Its density is what lets it hold a crisp curve and a sharp mitre, as long as it is cut with the right tools.

Types of Custom Work We Fabricate

Bookmatched Features

Consecutive slabs mirrored to create a symmetrical pattern: feature walls, fireplace surrounds, island fronts and headboards. The bundle has to be right, so we visit the yard with you.

Curved Cuts

Radius bars, rounded island ends, curved vanities and serpentine edges. Every curve is CAD-drawn and cut on the Flow Mach 500 waterjet, then hand-polished.

Deep Mitred Aprons

A strip of stone mitred to the top edge to make it look 4, 6 or 8 inches thick. The vein wraps the edge so it reads as one solid block.

Oversized Tops

Single-piece islands, tables and desks from jumbo slabs. We plan access routes at templating and spec steel substructure so the piece is fully supported.

Working With Designers

Most of our custom work comes from kitchen designers and architects. Send drawings and we return a CAD nest, a stone recommendation and a per-piece quote. We can visit site meetings, work to builder schedules and dry-lay pieces for your client to approve in our Vaughan shop. In Bayview Hill and Oak Ridges we often work straight from a builder’s plans to keep custom homes on schedule.

Stones That Suit Custom Work

  • Cristallo: translucent, ideal for backlit curved islands and feature walls.
  • Taj Mahal: warm veins that flow around curves.
  • Mont Blanc: linear veins that make mitred aprons look crisp.

For mitred waterfalls specifically, see quartzite waterfall edge. For the machines behind it all, see quartzite fabrication. Trust us, you’re in good hands with the hard ones.

Straight Talk

What Actually Stops Toronto Homeowners From Booking Custom Countertops

In our opinion, these four questions decide most bookings. Here are the straight answers.

"Why does custom cost more per square foot?"

In our opinion, custom work is priced by time and risk, not area. A curved bar or a 6-inch mitred apron takes hours of waterjet time and careful dry-laying. You are paying for pieces that most shops will not attempt, cut right the first time.

"Could the same shapes be done in quartz or porcelain?"

Some can. Quartz curves show resin seams, and porcelain mitres chip and show a plain body. Quartzite keeps real veining through every curve and apron.

"Are curves and deep aprons fragile?"

Not when they are cut on a waterjet and supported properly. We spec steel substructure and template to 1/16 inch so nothing is stressed on install.

"Do custom pieces need special sealing?"

Same Dry-Treat Stain-Proof impregnating seal, same 18-month cycle. Deep aprons and vertical pieces actually need it less often.

Why Choose Us

Why Choose Quartzite Countertops Toronto for Custom Countertops

1. 22 Years of Quartzite Fabrication

Two decades hand-fabricating natural stone in our own Vaughan shop. 1,400+ GTA kitchens and counting, so we have already seen the slab, the cabinet and the wall you are worried about.

2. Park Industries CNC + Flow Mach 500 In-House

Our CNC bridge saw, waterjet and Marmo Meccanica polisher sit under one roof. No subcontracted cutting, no middleman markup, and no slab leaving our sight between templating and install.

3. NSI Dimension Stone + CSA A126 Compliance

Residential work follows the NSI Dimension Stone Design Manual. Commercial work is built to CSA A126, which is why 97% of our commercial jobs sign off on the first visit.

4. 11-Supplier Slab-Yard Network

5. Free In-Home Consultation With Slab Samples

We bring real Taj Mahal, Mont Blanc and Fantasy Brown samples plus edge mockups to your kitchen, so you judge colour under your own lights before anything gets cut.

6. Transparent CAD Pricing, Published

Precision Workflow

How Our Custom Countertops Process Works, 5 Steps

  1. Step 1: Concept & Slab Hunt

We start with your drawing or designer's plan, then hunt Stone Tile, Ciot and Marsala for slabs big enough and with the right vein for the shape, including jumbo and consecutive slabs.

  2. Step 2: Laser Templating to 1/16 Inch

Our LT-2D3D laser templater captures curves, columns, walls and floors. For freestanding pieces, we work from shop drawings and confirm on site.

  3. Step 3: Waterjet Curves & Mitres

Most fabricators cut curves freehand with a grinder and it shows. Every radius, curve and deep mitre here goes through the Flow Mach 500 waterjet with CAD nesting, and straight work runs on the Park Industries CNC.

  4. Step 4: Dry-Lay, Polish & Seal by Marco

Marco Delvecchio dry-lays custom pieces in the shop so you can see them assembled before polishing on the Marmo Meccanica line and sealing with Dry-Treat Stain-Proof.

  5. Step 5: Installation With Steel Substructure

A WSIB-cleared crew installs steel substructure where needed, sets the pieces, bonds mitres with Tenax epoxy and coordinates with your trades.

Got Questions?

Custom Countertops FAQ

How much do custom quartzite countertops cost in Toronto?

Custom quartzite runs $100-$220/sqft installed in CAD. Simple curves and moderate mitred aprons sit at the lower end. Oversized single-piece tops, bookmatched features and Cristallo with lighting sit at the top. Our Forest Hill custom new-build used 112 sqft of Cristallo. Every custom job gets a dry-lay plan and a per-piece quote, with steel and lighting on separate lines.

What counts as custom?

Curves, radius cuts, oversized single pieces, mitred aprons deeper than about 3 inches, bookmatched features, tables, fireplace surrounds and any shape that is not a standard rectangle-based counter.

How big can a single custom piece be?

Jumbo slabs reach about 10.5 by 5.5 feet. Access is usually the limit: doors, stairs and elevators. We check at templating.

How deep can a mitred apron be?

We regularly cut 4-8 inch aprons and have gone deeper for feature islands. Deep aprons need extra slab, so we plan them in the nest.

Can you build quartzite furniture?

Yes. Dining tables, coffee tables, benches and shelves on steel or wood bases. We coordinate the base with your metal or millwork shop.

Can custom pieces be backlit?

With Cristallo, yes. We coordinate the LED cavity and access hatch with your electrician.

How long does custom work take?

Usually 4-7 weeks from template, depending on the slab hunt and complexity.

Do you work with designers and architects?

Yes. Most of our custom work comes from designers. We review drawings, suggest stone and send back a CAD nest and quote.

Can I see the piece before install?

Yes. We dry-lay custom pieces in our Vaughan shop and you are welcome to come see them.
