Eased-edge galley for a historic townhouse remodel. Pieces were sized at templating to clear a tight staircase, and the two seams sit outside the main sight line.
1,400+ Quartzite Kitchens Across Toronto GTA. 22 Years Natural Stone Fabrication.
Quartzite Countertops Toronto has fabricated Taj Mahal, Cristallo, Mont Blanc, Fantasy Brown and Super White slabs across the GTA for over 22 years, from a Rosedale brownstone galley kitchen at $6,800 to a Yorkville penthouse 84 sqft bookmatched waterfall island in 2024, a King Street West restaurant 18-foot bar top with mitred waterfall ends, and a Forest Hill custom new-build with 112 sqft of Cristallo backlit against walnut cabinetry. In our opinion, quartzite is like a vintage leather jacket: it ages into character instead of out of it, carries a story in every vein, and still looks right 15 years later. It still blows our mind how often homeowners inherit a chipped marble install from a weekend fabricator and only discover the acid-etch damage after the first glass of red wine.
Every slab is templated to NSI Dimension Stone Design Manual compliance and CSA A126 for commercial work, cut on our Park Industries Pro-Edge CNC bridge saw, mitred on our Flow Mach 500 waterjet, polished on our Marmo Meccanica line and finish-sealed with Dry-Treat Stain-Proof. Our WSIB-covered crews carry $5M CGL, buy direct from Stone Tile and Ciot, finish most residential installs in a single day, and back every job with NSI Accredited Fabricator credentials and a written 2-year workmanship warranty across Toronto, Mississauga, Vaughan, Markham and the rest of the GTA.
"At Quartzite Countertops Toronto, our vision is to make natural stone accessible to Toronto homeowners who were quoted quartz because the showroom didn't carry anything else. We enjoy watching clients run their hand across a honed Taj Mahal slab the first time. We routinely hear that we exceeded their expectations, and this is what brings us joy."

Geology & Engineering
Quartzite is 100% natural metamorphic sandstone, fused under extreme heat and pressure deep in the earth. It rates 7 to 7.5 on the Mohs hardness scale, it is acid-resistant so lemon and red wine do not etch it, and it is UV-stable, so it never yellows by a sunny window. Engineered quartz is a different product: roughly 93% ground quartz bound with about 7% resin. That resin is what lets it scorch near 150C and yellow in direct sun.
The names sound almost identical, and retail staff conflate the two all the time. If a product contains resin, it is quartz. If it came out of the ground as a slab with its own lot number, it is quartzite. Our quartzite vs quartz page compares them on heat, UV, sealing and price on a real 60 sqft kitchen.
Sound Familiar?
These are the situations that bring most GTA homeowners to our door. If two or more sound like your kitchen, it is worth a free consultation.
Plenty of GTA showrooms do not carry real quartzite, so they steer you to engineered quartz. If you wanted natural stone, you were never shown it.
Burn rings from hot pots, yellowing by the window or dull rings from lemon and wine are signs the current surface is not up to how you cook.
Chips along the sink and dishwasher run usually mean a soft surface or edges cut on worn dry blades. Quartzite cut on a CNC holds an edge.
If the cabinets are new, the counters should outlast them. Real quartzite at 7 Mohs, heat-rated past 300C, is built for 20 years of cooking.
One number with no breakdown hides slab yield, edges, sealing and delivery. Our quotes itemise every line so you can compare fairly.
Most of these come down to the wrong material or the wrong cutting. We fix both with real, tested quartzite cut on a CNC, then quote it line by line. Book a free in-home look.
Our Services
We run 25 dedicated service pages because quartzite buyers ask different questions depending on where they are in a renovation. Some start with the stone: Taj Mahal, Cristallo, Mont Blanc or one of the tested whites. Some start with the room: a kitchen, an island, an ensuite vanity or a waterfall. Others need a specific service like installing a slab they already bought, a reseal or a chip repair, or they want to compare quartzite against quartz, granite, marble or porcelain before deciding. Commercial clients need compliance, after-hours work and bundle buying. Whatever your starting point, every page below publishes its CAD price range, explains how we fabricate it in our Vaughan shop and answers the questions we hear most. Pick the card closest to your project.

For Homeowners
Most of our work is in GTA homes: kitchens first, then islands, ensuites, backsplashes and the occasional waterfall that takes over the room. We start with a free in-home visit with real slab samples, laser template once your cabinets are in, cut everything in our Vaughan shop and install in a day. Between visits, we handle sealing, chip repair and re-polishing for kitchens we built and kitchens we did not. Your quote is itemised from slab to install, and the price you see on each page is the price we work from.
From the shop floor
Ran into a good one last month in a Leaside semi. Homeowner wanted a bookmatched Taj Mahal island but their slab had a hairline resin repair we flagged at the yard. Swapped to a cleaner block, mitred the waterfall on our Flow Mach 500, passed walkthrough first try. Client Priya W. said the vein alignment across the mitre was better than the showroom sample.
For Developers & Operators
Restaurants, hotels, boutiques and condo developers hire us for the same reason: we control the whole job. Stone is bought in full bundles so every unit matches, cut in our own shop so schedules hold, and installed by our own WSIB-cleared crews. We build to CSA A126 and the NSI Dimension Stone Design Manual, and 97% of our commercial jobs sign off on the first visit. We never promise permit approval; we just do the work that makes approval routine.
Last fall on College Street

Where the Money Goes
When fabrication and install run $85-$150/sqft on top of your stone choice, it helps to know what is inside the number. First is the slab itself, priced by stone and grade, and you pay for the whole slab, not just the pieces. Then slab yield: a typical kitchen loses about 32% to offcuts, which is why we nest every piece on a photo of your slab before cutting.
After that comes laser templating to 1/16 inch, CNC cutting with flooded diamond blades, edge polishing on our Marmo Meccanica line and a Dry-Treat Stain-Proof seal in the shop and again on site. Every load carries 1,100 lb delivery insurance, a two-person WSIB-cleared crew does the install, and the job is backed by a written 2-year warranty. None of those lines are optional on our jobs, and all of them are listed on your quote so you can compare us against anyone.

In our opinion, picking the wrong finish costs more than picking a slightly more expensive stone.
The Red Wine Test
Quartzite does, every time. Marble is calcite, a mineral that reacts with acid, so red wine, lemon and tomato sauce leave dull etch marks within seconds, and no sealer stops that reaction. Quartzite is fused quartz and stays inert. It is also much harder: about 7 on the Mohs scale against 3 to 5 for marble, so knives and pot bottoms do not scratch it.
Price works in quartzite's favour too: $70-$280/sqft installed versus $120-$400/sqft for Carrara. If you love the marble look, a tested white quartzite gives it to you without the worry. See quartzite vs marble for the full comparison.
Straight Talk
In our opinion, this is the most common misunderstanding we hear. Entry quartzites like Fantasy Brown and Mont Blanc start at $70-$75/sqft installed, so a 50 sqft L-shape kitchen lands at $5,500-$7,500. That is often within $1,500 of premium quartz, for real stone that handles heat and never yellows.
Genuine quartzite is harder than steel, 7 Mohs versus about 5.5 for a kitchen knife. Chipping is rare when stone is cut on a proper CNC bridge saw and given an eased, demi-bullnose or mitred edge. Nine times out of ten, chips come from outdated manual saws that leave micro-fissures along the cut line.
Cheap big-box quartz sold as quartzite is like a Halloween-store suit: fine for one dinner party, embarrassing by the holidays. Real quartzite sealed with Dry-Treat Stain-Proof needs a simple reseal every 18 months. Red wine, coffee and turmeric wipe clean in between.
Every kitchen loses some stone to offcuts, typically around 32%. A good slab-yield cut is like a Thanksgiving turkey carve: anyone can hack it, but if you want breast and drumstick both intact, you want it done right. We CAD-nest every piece on a photo of your slab and turn offcuts into vanities where we can.
Precision Workflow
We walk you through our partner yards (Stone Tile, Ciot, Marsala) to inspect full slabs, check the lot number and make sure no resin repairs or fissures are hiding under the polish.
Our LT-2D3D laser templater scans your cabinets to 1/16 inch, picking up out-of-square walls, sink and faucet positions and every appliance gap before a single cut.
A lot of shops still run dry blades that stress the stone and leave micro-fissures on the cut line. We cut on a flooded diamond Park Industries CNC bridge saw and mitre on our Flow Mach 500 waterjet.
Marco Delvecchio checks every mitred seam and vein match before the edges go through the Marmo Meccanica polisher and the stone gets a Dry-Treat Stain-Proof impregnating seal.
A WSIB-cleared two-person crew levels, sets and seams your stone with Akemi colour-matched epoxy, caulks the perimeter and leaves the kitchen broom-clean, usually in one appointment.
Standards
Natural stone is not a regulated trade in Ontario, which is exactly why standards matter. We are a Natural Stone Institute Accredited Fabricator and a Marble Institute of America Certified Fabricator, and we build residential work to the NSI Dimension Stone Design Manual. Stone classification follows ASTM standards, including ASTM C615 for granite-type dimension stone, which is how we document what is in your kitchen. Commercial installs follow CSA A126, and we coordinate with general contractors on Ontario Building Code requirements, including OBC 9.29 for interior finishes in houses and Part 3 for larger buildings.
Before You Sign
Whether you hire us or someone else, ask every fabricator these ten questions. A good shop answers all of them without hesitating.
Ask whether the shop is a Natural Stone Institute Accredited Fabricator. It means audited processes, not just a logo.
A CNC bridge saw with flooded diamond blades prevents the micro-fissures that cause chips. Ask where your stone gets cut.
Commercial general liability of $5M protects your home if something goes wrong on install day.
Ask for a WSIB clearance certificate. Without it, an injured installer can become your problem.
You should know how much stone your layout uses and what happens to offcuts before you sign.
A real fabrication facility you can visit. Ours is an 8,000 sq ft shop in Vaughan.
More yard accounts mean better access to premium lots like Taj Mahal, Cristallo and Super White.
Digital templates to 1/16 inch beat plywood strips that warp in a hot truck.
A fabricator who brings real slab samples and edge mockups to your kitchen, so you judge colour under your own lights.
A written workmanship warranty covering seams, cut-outs and adhesion, not a verbal promise.
Nine times out of ten, this is where the previous fabricator cut a corner.

Installed quartzite runs $70-$280/sqft in CAD: Fantasy Brown and grey from $70, Taj Mahal $85-$130, Super White $90-$150 and Cristallo $140-$280. An L-shape kitchen of 45-55 sqft lands at $5,500-$9,800, and an open-concept kitchen with an island at 65-85 sqft runs $9,500-$18,000. The spread inside each range comes from slab grade, how much of the slab your layout wastes (we plan around a 32% yield loss), the edge profile, the number of cut-outs and how hard the site is to reach. Every quote itemises slab, fabrication, edge, sealing, delivery and install, so you can see exactly which line moves the number. The full tables live on our quartzite cost page.
No. Quartzite is natural metamorphic sandstone at 7-7.5 Mohs. Quartz is engineered from about 93% ground quartz and 7% resin, so it can scorch near 150C and yellow in sunlight. The confusion starts at the showroom, where staff use the two words loosely and a lot of buyers walk out thinking they bought stone when they bought a resin product. Quartzite comes out of the ground in slabs, every slab is different, it tolerates a hot pan and it does not fade by a south-facing window. Quartz is uniform, needs no sealing and costs a little less. If you want the look of real stone that performs like a hard surface, quartzite is the one.
Real quartzite is acid-resistant and does not etch. If a slab etches, it is likely dolomite or marble sold as quartzite, which is why we test every lot before you buy. At the yard we put a drop of lemon juice and a bit of vinegar on an offcut, wait, then check for a dull ring. We also run a glass scratch test, because real quartzite scratches glass and dolomite does not. Super White, Fantasy Brown and some white lots are the stones most often mislabelled, so those get tested every single time. Sealing protects against staining, which is a different problem from etching. Etching is a surface reaction you cannot seal away, so the test matters more than the sealer.
Every 18 months with an impregnating sealer like Dry-Treat Stain-Proof. A reseal visit costs $350-$950. The sealer soaks into the stone and sits below the surface, so it does not change the finish or leave a film. You can check it yourself with a water-drop test: put a few drops near the sink, wait ten minutes and wipe. If the stone darkens under the drops, it is time. Leathered and honed finishes usually ask for sealing a little sooner than polished, because the open texture takes in more. We seal every install before we leave, so your first reseal is roughly a year and a half out.
Rarely, when it is cut on a CNC bridge saw and given an eased, demi-bullnose or mitred edge. Chips we do see are repaired for $185-$450. Most chips come from two things: a sharp square edge with no ease on it, and micro-fissures left along the cut line by worn manual blades. Our Park Industries CNC runs flooded diamond blades that keep the cut cool, and every edge gets eased before polishing. Around the dishwasher and the sink front is where a pot or a cast-iron pan is most likely to catch a corner. If it happens, we fill with colour-matched UV-cure resin, re-profile and polish so it disappears from normal viewing distance.
Most kitchens take 2-3 weeks for Taj Mahal and 4-6 weeks for Cristallo. Rush (5 business days) adds $350-$950. The clock starts when the laser template is approved and the slab is reserved. Taj Mahal, Mont Blanc and the grey stones are usually in stock across our yards, so cutting can start within days. Cristallo and some premium Super White lots come in on order, and backlit work adds coordination with your electrician. Commercial jobs are scheduled around your opening date and building access windows.
Most residential installs finish in one day with a two-person WSIB-cleared crew. A typical L-shape kitchen with a sink and cooktop cut-out is set, seamed, caulked and sealed in four to seven hours. Large islands with mitred waterfall ends or full-height backsplashes can run into a second short visit. Plumbers can usually hook up the sink the next day once the epoxy has cured.
Yes. Every install carries a written 2-year workmanship warranty. It covers seams, adhesion, cut-outs, support and the fabrication itself. Natural variation in the stone is not a defect, which is why we walk you through the slab before cutting. Our crews also carry WSIB coverage and $5M commercial general liability plus $2M property damage, so the job is covered while we are in your home.

Yes. We ship templated slabs from Vaughan to Halton sites including Bronte, Glen Abbey, Aldershot and Millcroft, along with Mississauga, Brampton, Markham, Richmond Hill and all of Toronto. Published CAD pricing applies across the whole GTA, with no travel surcharge inside our service area.
Yes. Bar tops, hotel desks, retail counters and 12-24 unit condo jobs from $15,000 to $95,000, built to CSA A126 and NSI standards.
